 1. การใช้ in on at กับเวลา

at ใช้ระบุเวลา ณ จุดใดจุดหนึ่ง เช่น
at noon	เวลาเที่ยงวัน
at night	เวลากลางคืน
at midday	เวลาเที่ยงวัน
at six o'clock	เวลาหกโมงเช้า
at Christmas	ในวันคริสต์มาส

at ใช้กับสำนวนที่เกี่ยวกับเวลา เช่น
at first	ในตอนแรก
at once	ในทันที
at last	ในท้ายสุด
at lunch time	ในเวลาอาหารกลางวัน
at present	ขณะนี้

on ใช้กับวันของสัปดาห์ทั้งหมดเช่น
on Sunday	วันอาทิตย์
on Monday	วันจันทร์
on Tuesday	วันอังคาร
on Wednesday	วันพุธ
on Thursday	วันพฤหัสบดี
on Friday	วันศุกร์
on Saturday	วันเสาร์

on ใช้กับวันที่ วันสำคัญทางศาสนาหรือทางราชการ และวันหยุดต่างๆ
on May 1st	ในวันที่ 1 พฤษภาคม
on Christmas Day	ในวันคริสต์มาส
on New Year's day	ในวันขึ้นปีใหม่
on holiday	ในวันหยุด
on vacation	ในวันหยุด
on time	ตรงเวลา
on Songkran day	ในวันสงกรานต์

in ใช้กับส่วนของวันเช่น
in the morning	ในตอนเช้า
in the afternoon	ในตอนบ่าย
in the evening	ในตอนเย็น

in ใช้กับเวลาหรือระยะเวลาที่ยาวขึ้นเช่นเดือน ปี และฤดู
in 2000	ในปี 2000
in summer	ในฤดูร้อน
in June 1999	ในเดือนมิถุนายน ปี ค.ศ. 1999
in the 21th century	ในศตวรรษที่ 21
in the past	ในอดีต
in time	ทันเวลา
in the future	ในอนาคต
in a few months	ในอีก 2-3 เดือน
in two hours	ภายในสองชั่วโมง
in a week's time	ในหนึ่งสัปดาห์

2. การใช้ in on at กับสถานที่  

at ใช้กับบ้านเลขที่เช่นat 224 Mango Street, at 987 Big Elm Road, at 67 Sukhumvit Road

at ใช้กับสถานที่ซึ่งเป็นจุดเล็กๆเช่นในระดับเมืองหรือใช้ กับสถานที่เล็กๆหรือระบุตำแหน่งที่แน่นอนเช่น
at home	ที่บ้าน
at the hospital	ที่โรงพยาบาล
at the airport	ที่สนามบิน
at the bus station	ที่สถานีขนส่ง
at the meeting	ที่ประชุม
at the window	ที่หน้าต่าง

at ที่ใช้กับสำนวนอื่นๆเช่น

at large	มีอิสระ

on ใช้เชื่อมต่อระหว่างสองที่เช่น

on the way home	ในระหว่างทางกลับบ้าน

on ใช้กับตำแหน่งบนพื้นผิวเช่น
on the table	บนโต๊ะ
on the ceiling	บนเพดาน
on the sidewalk	บนทางข้างถนน
on the floor	บนพื้น
on the train	บนรถไฟ
on a bicycle	บนรถจักรยาน
on the wall	บนผนัง

in ใช้กับสถานที่ที่ค่อนข้างใหญ่เช่นเมืองจังหวัด ประเทศหรือทวีปเช่น
in Chiang Mai	ในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่
in Asia	ในทวีปเอเชีย
in the world	ในโลก
in the army	ในกองทัพ
in the sky	ในท้องฟ้า
in the river	ในแม่นํ้า
in the sea	ในทะเล
in the parking lot	ในลานจอดรถ

นอกจากนี้ยังยังมีคำว่า
during แปลว่า ระหว่าง
till, until ใช้เกี่ยวกับเวลาแปลว่า จนกระทั่ง จนถึง
before ใช้เกี่ยวกับเวลาแปลว่า ก่อน
after ใช้เกี่ยวกับเวลาแปลว่า หลัง
from ใช้กับเวลาหรือสถานที่แปลว่า นับตั้งแต่
from...to แปลว่า จาก...ถึง
from...till แปลว่า ตั้งแต่...ถึง
between... and แปลว่า ระหว่าง...ถึง
by แปลว่าด้วย(ใช้กับการเดินทางด้วยยานพาหนะแปลว่า) ข้าง ใกล้
in front of แปลว่า ข้างหน้า
outside แปลว่า ข้างนอก ภายนอก
inside แปลว่า ข้างใน ภายใน
behind แปลว่า ข้างหลัง
